World University of Bangladesh Hosts Career-Focused Tourism Lecture

The Department of Tourism and Hospitality Management (THM) at the World University of Bangladesh (WUB) organized an exclusive guest lecture on November 10, 2025, featuring Syed Ghulam Qadir, Secretary General of the World Tourism Network (WTN), Bangladesh Chapter.
Held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the session brought together students from different THM batches for an insightful discussion connecting academic learning with real-world tourism industry demands.
Mr. Qadir, a seasoned tourism professional, provided an overview of the evolution of tour operations in Bangladesh and shared perspectives on current global and local tourism trends, including post-pandemic recovery and the rise of eco-tourism. He highlighted the expanding global demand for skilled tourism professionals and advised students on career development, skill-building, networking, and maintaining professionalism.
Emphasizing ethical practices, he encouraged students to uphold integrity and cultural sensitivity in tourism operations. He also inspired young graduates to explore entrepreneurship in travel, digital tourism services, and local experience design. Additionally, Mr. Qadir shed light on the vital role of tour guides as cultural ambassadors and recommended developing strong storytelling and cross-cultural communication skills.
Professor Mohammed Nasimul Azim, Head and Director of THM, praised the session for offering students practical insights beyond classroom learning. Faculty members including Md. Abdul Latif Mahmud, Sara Murtaza, Md. Morsalin, and Pulak Sarker were also present.
The lecture concluded with a lively Q&A session, after which the department reaffirmed its commitment to regularly hosting industry leaders to prepare students for global careers in tourism and hospitality.
