Airbnb: Change the world
Airbnb: Start of a new concept
The time was October 2007, A major design conference was held in San Francisco. Naturally, a lot of people gathered around the city and it was a festive feeling all together.
At the same time, two roommates are sitting in a house in the city with worried faces. The festive heat is not able to touch them because they have not been able to pay the rent for a long time. There is no possibility of income. They may need to leave the house any time. The two roommates are Brian Chesky and Joe Gebbia.
At that moment, they met two people who had come to the city to attend the conference, but could not find a place to stay because all the hotels were booked. Brian and Gebbia had an idea. They spread an air mattress in the empty part of their house and offered two people to stay there for a few dollars. He also offered them breakfast. Both guests accepted the offer. Staying at home is safer than walking on the street.
A new initiative has been launched. Brian and Gebbia named the initiative ‘Air bed and Breakfast’.
