Airlines GSA Forum Launched in Bangladesh
New platform aims to boost coordination, policy support, and international standards for foreign airline representatives in the country.
A new industry platform titled the Airlines GSA (General Sales Agent) Forum of Bangladesh has been officially launched, aiming to foster coordination, growth, and policy support for companies representing foreign airlines in the country. This initiative marks a significant development in the aviation industry of Bangladesh.
The launch event took place at a hotel in Dhaka on Sunday, bringing together representatives from various local and international GSA companies operating in Bangladesh. These companies play a vital role in facilitating the operations of foreign airlines in the country, which is crucial to the growth of Bangladesh aviation.
Air Vice Marshal M Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), attended the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest.
Forum Convener Ahmed Yusuf Walid highlighted the historical significance of GSA companies, stating, “Since the country’s independence, GSA firms have represented foreign airlines in Bangladesh. This forum has been established to enhance collaboration and advocate for supportive policies to ensure sustainable sectoral development within the aviation industry of Bangladesh.”
Forum representatives noted that over 70 foreign aviation operators are currently active in Bangladesh, with nearly 50 of them represented by GSA companies. These agents significantly contribute to the country’s tourism and trade sectors, further strengthening Bangladesh aviation.
Currently, 28 GSA companies are active members of the forum, while several more have shown interest in joining the platform, forum members added.
Muzakker Hossain, the forum’s Member Secretary, also addressed attendees, emphasizing the importance of unity among stakeholders.
Industry insiders believe that the establishment of the GSA Forum will bring improved transparency, better coordination, and elevate the overall standards of the sector to align with international benchmarks—marking a new chapter for the aviation industry of Bangladesh.
