Air Arabia is the largest budget carrier in Middle East and operating from Dhaka and Chittagong
Air Arabia has expressed keen interest in launching flights from Sylhet and, in the near future, from Cox’s Bazar. The airline’s Regional Head, Mr. Rajesh Narula, met with the Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB), Air Vice Marshal Md Monjur Kabir Bhuiyan, on Tuesday (May 20) at CAAB headquarters.
During the meeting, they discussed ongoing cooperation in the aviation sector, future prospects, and ways to improve passenger services. The CAAB Chairman requested Air Arabia to consider operating flights from Sylhet Osmani International Airport in the near future. He also noted that Cox’s Bazar Airport is on its way to being upgraded to international standards, and encouraged Air Arabia to initiate plans for flight operations there as well.
In response, Mr. Rajesh Narula expressed the airline’s strong interest in starting operations from Sylhet and conveyed that Air Arabia is also eager to launch flights from Cox’s Bazar once it attains international airport status.
The CAAB Chairman extended a warm welcome to Mr. Narula and assured full support and cooperation from CAAB regarding the matter. Senior representatives from both Air Arabia and CAAB were present during the meeting.
The interest to operate from Sylhet and Cox’s Bazaar will add significant air connectivity opportunity to the Bangladesh Aviation industry, creating travel opportunity, support tourism development and create aviation job opportunity.
