Cirrus SR22: The Game-Changer in General Aviation
The Cirrus SR22, introduced in 2001 by Cirrus Aircraft, stands as a revolutionary single-engine, four- or five-seat aircraft. Known for its sleek composite design and cutting-edge features, it has been the world’s best-selling general aviation (GA) airplane every year since 2003. By 2019, over 6,149 units were delivered, with the SR22 and its sibling, the SR20, reaching a combined production total of 7,645 units. A standout feature is the Cirrus Airframe Parachute System (CAPS)—an emergency whole-plane recovery system that has earned the SR22 the nickname “the plane with the parachute,” setting new benchmarks in aviation safety and innovation.
